  • Prior to Tiger’s participation as Co-Chairman of the 10th Annual European Shared Services & Outsourcing Week in Edinburgh in May, we conducted this short interview with him.

The interview offers an insight into one man’s take on the current market place, the impact of the recession on sourcing strategies and what the future is likely to look like for us all. Here’s just a sample of questions touched upon:

    i. How do Shared Services Organisations really add value to businesses in today’s climate….what’s actually new out there?
ii. What have been the direct changes in SSO strategy you’ve seen over the last 12-18 months since the crisis hit, and what are their long term consequences for the market place?
iii. How far has BPO really penetrated into more complex work and how much does the industry still operate in the transactional volume space?
iv. How is globalisation affecting decisions at the highest level, is it central or is it overlooked to some extent as a criteria?

You can hear more from Tiger at the 10th Annual European Shared Services & Outsourcing Week in Edinburgh this May

Entitled Cost of Control, the June study surveyed 550 senior financial decision makers in France, Benelux, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, UK and the United States. • Basware White Paper - Three steps Procurement and Finance must take together to reduce supply risk
  • As supplier bankruptcy risk is clearly rising, CEOs, CFOs and procurement leaders face other types of supply risk as well. When companies fail to track, report, and manage supplier accreditations, certifications and standards, overall business risk increases as well. Consider how the US Federal government chose to make an example of Wal-Mart for failing to manage the labor credentials of contractors working inside stores. In other cases, The Gap, Monsanto and dozens of other large multinational companies were caught up in contractor and supplier child labor scandals. To fully address these issues, multiple constituents inside organizations must take ownership of the issues, working together to ensure supplier compliance. Working together, procurement and finance can take action today, creating the right team to build increased overall spend and supplier visibility, enable better A/P coordination and results and deploy enabling P2P technology to drive compliance and overall risk reduction.

    • Enabling A/P to be an asset versus a liability when it comes to supplier relationships
    • Empowering internal audit and risk management to do a better job of analyzing supply risk
    • Focusing on building visibility into key supplier metrics and key performance indicators KPIs.

  • Navanit Samaiyar, Genpact

Companies often lack the visibility into what best -in-class processes look like and, therefore, can be challenged with end-to-end process improvements. As a result, there are significant differences in value realization between leading companies and average performers. Specifically, in the Source to Pay (S2P) arena, it is critical to look at processes end-to-end — from spend analysis to accounts payable — to truly leverage the full benefits of sourcing and procurement operations. Genpact presents a new paradigm which takes an enterprise level view of the source to pay processes and ties them to business outcomes enabling faster pay-back and increased performance.
