Application categories and guidelines

1) Only one awards entry will be accepted per category, per company. In the case of multinational corporations with independent industry divisions to qualify you must have at least 3 of the following:

  • Separate MD/CEO/leadership
  • Stand alone Process Excellence division
  • Separate P&L
  • Separate product responsibility

2) Applications are open to industry entrants only. If you are a consultant or solutions provider looking to submit an entry this must be submitted by your client.

3) Due to the nature of the service offering and to ensure fairness in judging across all awards categories, BPO organisations looking to enter the awards must enter as part of the Best BPO program only.

4) Applications to previous year’s award programs will not be accepted

5) All project application must have been executed or completed within the last 18 months. Older projects will not be accepted to ensure that applications remain timely and relevant

Programme Awards

Best Process Improvement Programme
This award is to recognise the vision, business impact and sustainability of mature Process Excellence Programmes. Entries will be judged on their strategy, capacity for delivery and also the extent to which they have created an environment for change. Download judging criteria and application pack

Best Start-up Programme
This award will celebrate the achievements of new Process Excellence programmes of up to 2 years in deployment (at time of entry). Entrants will be judged on their abilities in direction setting, delivering business benefits and initial culture change. Start-up programmes that do not have previous experience drawn from related business divisions will be marked higher. Download judging criteria and application pack

NEW Best BPM Programme
This award will celebrate the achievement of BPM in furthering enterprise-wide process improvement and performance. Entrants will be judged on the ability to further BPM implementation and sustainable frameworks (people process and IT) across the organization. Download judging criteria and application pack

NEW Best BPO Based Process Improvement Programme
This award is design to specifically recognise the achievements of BPO organizations leveraging Process Improvement to support their potential for service delivery. BPO entrants will be assessed on both their depth of Process Improvement understanding in specific relation to how this aids the fundamental ability to deliver Business Transformation and Excellence in Service Delivery to the customer. It is highly recommended that BPOs support their entry with testimonials and case studies from primary clients. Download judging criteria and application pack

Project Awards

Best Process Improvement Project in Service & Transaction
This award category will be open to:

  • Service and transactional companies
  • Service and transaction projects delivered within a manufacturing or non-traditional service company

Marks will be awarded in relation to business impact, project execution and innovation.

Best Process Improvement Project in Manufacturing
This award is specifically dedicated to improvements in pure manufacturing functions using Lean, Six Sigma, BPM or any other recognised Process Excellence tool. Top entrants will be judged on the ability to prove their operational and business results as well as clarity in execution throughout the process

Best Process Improvement Project Contributing to Innovation
This category awards those projects that significantly drive innovation within a process or product through any process improvement methodology. Like the other project categories marks will be awarded for business impact and innovation, but with a 50% of the points awarded for innovative tool usage, solutions and outcomes.

Best Process Improvement Project under 90 days
This award is designed to recognise the business impact and scope of projects with short cycle times and quick wins for the business. Projects in this category are expected to be no more than 90 days in length (from concept to completion) and are usually more aligned with the Lean methodology and kaizen events. If your project exceeds this then please submit to one of the other project categories. Points will be awarded for business impact, project execution, speed and innovation.

NEW Best Lean Transformation Project
This new category is designed to recognise the increasing role that Lean is playing in significant organisational transformations. Unlike the 90 days category designed for kaizen and short scale approaches the Lean transformation category is for large scale Lean implementations that radically change a business operational approach.

Best Green Improvement project
This award is designed to recognise successful improvement projects in the green, environmental and social responsibility space. Applicants will be judged on the business impact, ROI from green initiatives along with originality of project approach.

NEW Best BPM Project
This award is designed to recognise the success in individual BPM projects in supporting the enterprise-wide value chain. As with the BPM program awards, applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate successful BPM results across the People, process and IT. Project will be judged on initial implementation success and also future sustainability and governance.

Rules regulations & procedures for entry submissions

To be considered for the 2011 Process Excellence Awards, your entry needs to meet the following requirements:

  • All entries must be received by 5PM GMT, 18th February 2011. We are unable to accept late entries. The contact person listed on the entry form will be notified upon receipt of entry.
  • All entries must contain no more than the specified amount of slides in the application pack and follow the guidelines given.
  • All applications must be submitted electronically to be accepted at awards@iqpc.co.uk
  • The admin form must be complete, contain the signature of the entrant and company size and details for judging.
  • All entries must be submitted with an 100 words outline of the entry that can be used for public circulation. Guidelines can be found in the application kit.
  • All applications must be made in English. For each category you wish to be considered, you must complete a specific category application.
  • Individual projects can only be submitted into one category. Applications submitted into more than one category will be withdrawn from all but one category.
  • Only one entry can be submitted per company in each category.
  • BPO organization may only enter into the specified program BPO awards category

All contents of each application are confidential. Each judge is required to sign a legal nondisclosure agreement and is required to return the entries to IQPC when they are finished.
