MPHH

The Muscat Press and Publishing House SAOC (MPPH), the leading, trend-setting publishing house in the Sultanate of Oman, has played a vibrant role in Omani society for the last 35 years. From being a media group that gathers and disseminates news, MPPH has evolved itself into a house that creates news. A role model and an innovator, with well-defined corporate social responsibility.

A slew of products — from broadsheet dailies to tabloid weeklies and monthlies as well as weekly magazines both in Arabic and English languages — are published under the banner of MPPH, including the Times of Oman, Al Shabiba, H!, and Al Youm Al Sabe.

MPPH is proud of setting the standard, and rewriting them, in the last 36 years. It is but natural that it has been credited with many ‘firsts’ that have made life easier for the readers and advertisers: in 2005 MPPH became the first in the AGCC to develop an online edition for both the dailies; in 2008 WAP editions of the newspapers were made available on cell phones; classifieds could now be booked through SMS and online. The innovations have created a revolution in the print media in the Sultanate of Oman.

April 2010 witnessed a dramatic change in the history of MPPH which changed the way people read and look newspapers in the sultanate. Times of Oman and Al Shabiba was redesigned to look more attractive giving emphasis on news content as well as to design element under the expert guidance of Dr. Mario R. Garcia, the leader of Garcia Media. Dr. Mario has devoted more than 30 years to redesigning publications, and has personally collaborated with over 450 news organizations.

The international design standards of Times of Oman and Al Shabiba has won many laurels to the MPPH at the 32nd SND International Design Awards and Communications Arts International Design Awards
