Successful strategies to incorporate regulations and employ the most promising DMPK tools

Drug transporters exert a vital influence on drug absorption, disposition, metabolism and elimination and are seen as an essential part of predicting drug disposition. However, identifying and employing the right membrane transporters remains a challenge as does the interpretation and translation of transport data. In addition, the forthcoming regulatory guidelines of the American FDA along with the inputs of EMA and the ITC will help clarify which drug transporters are relevant. In order to better understand and correctly implement all requirements there is still a real need to accelerate the harmonization of regulatory requirements.

Focus on PK/PD, ADME, DMPK, BBB and PBPK

Experts from international companies such as Sanofi-Aventis, GSK, Bayer and Novartis will report on first-hand experiences and best practices.

  • Learn how to strategically apply regulatory requirements by understanding the differences between regulatory agencies
  • Discover what impact drug transporters exert on DDI by better analysing in vivo alteration in drugs PK
  • Utilise PBPK-modelling techniques to increase prediction of DT function and expression by successfully creating virtual organs
  • Discover how pharmacogenomics may affect drug design by understanding the impact of genetic polymorphism on DT
  • Apply the best in vitro and in vivo methods to better assess drug penetration at the BBB by strategically optimizing early discovery compounds

Following companies will present at the conference:

    • Sanofi-Aventis GmbH, Germany
    • GlaxoSmithKline PLC, UK
    • University of Toronto/Ministry of Health of Ontario, Canada
    • Abbott GmbH & Co. KG, Germany
