Post-Conference Workshop: 22nd October, 2008

09.30 - 12.30 Workshop: Maritime surveillance: Achieving littoral and port security

This workshop will provide the latest qualitative analysis on the scope and utilisation of all aspects of maritime surveillance for achieving complete domain awareness. It will provide a detailed analysis of the threats and nature of the challenges that face marine and air forces securing the seas in both conventional and asymmetric environments. Not only assessing worldwide market trends in the field, this session will also focus on obtaining Maritime domain awareness (MDA) and securing maritime interests with specific focus on the Asia peninsular and India.

The existing maritime surveillance architecture and response mechanisms of many militaries will be examined with specific reference to the application of maritime air power in India and in similar environments. The present day 'tools and techniques' will be subjected to critical scrutiny by group discussions with a view to providing solutions for consideration by potential military planners. It provides an opportunity to the participants to examine existing templates, review capability gaps and offer appropriate measures.
