ENVIROSPEC

ENVIROSPEC (The environmental division of Electronic Blueprint) specialises in the analysis and specification of building products, such that their life-cycle environmental impacts, including in-service performance, are fully assessed. The information is then made freely available to designers is a form that is both simple and easy to interpret.

Comprehensive life cycle analyses are controversial, because they involve numerous assumptions regarding the manufacture, transport, construction, demolition and re-use of the building products; and assumptions regarding their in-service performance in various applications. ENVIROSPEC is participating in a comprehensive project to evaluate the full life-cycle impacts of building products. We consider and analyse the effects of building products on the sustainable operation of buildings into which they are built, in the context of common practice. Though this process, we provide Environmental Benchmarking (the comparison of a product’s life-cycle analyses or other environmental data to those of the most common acceptable alternative “benchmark construction). This give a much more realistic picture of a building product’s sustainability effects that the other common techniques that do not consider benchmarking.

This information is presented in comprehensive reports, and summarised in specifications provided free to Architects, Engineers, Builders, and Regulators via the Electronic Blueprint website www.electronicblueprint.com
