I thought the conference was one of the best I have attended in terms of both content
and organisation. It is obvious that spatially enabling government and business is seen
as a way of obtaining better and faster analysis of resource inputs and outputs and
presents decision makers with a better picture of what is and what could be. It is true that
a picture says a thousand words
Gary Shaw, Director, Information Queensland
Every year will bring new discoveries of what will and won’t work in the area
Tan Chiew Lan, IT Manager, Infocomm Development Authority(singapore)
The conference gave me an opportunity to learn of successful spatial information management systems. It seems to be a hot and relevant topic to large government organisations who store large amounts of data
Mirra Huber, Executive Officer, Spatial Information, Department Of Defence
It was a really worthwhile conference with some really useful and thought provoking presentations
ACC Suzette Davenport, Assistant Chief Constable (Intelligence), West Midlands Police, UK
SEGS ’08 is an excellent event for government departments and agencies interested in learning more about mapping and navigation solutions. It provided us with an excellent opportunity to work with individual attendees to solve their specific and unique mapping requirements with the Whereis® suite of navigation products.
Andrew Ford, Marketing Manager Location Publishing, Sensis Pty Ltd
SEGS ‘08 has put DMS:BT in front of our future clients. It is certainly the right environment to do business
Damien Olbourne, Director, DMS:BT
An exceptionally useful summit
Alex Schulz GIS Coordina¬tor Queanbeyen City Council

Government organisations such as yours are currently at different stages of implementation and advancement of their geospatial systems.
In today’s climate, it is now more important than ever to maximise the potential of spatial within government and a lot of departments have stated they still have huge improvements to make in the areas of data collection, efficiency and data management, whatever their stage of rollout.
|
|
SEGS is the only conference that you can attend that will cover topics that are critical to the improvement of your GIS/spatial infrastructure. SEGS does not cover issues that are on the periphery of your core investment areas. |

Attend a conference that is specifically designed for the end-user and covers the most technical issues in spatially enabling the Australian Government?
SEGS will give you insight into:
- How to develop and share Australia’s digital geographic resources
- Executing proven industry strategies for data collecting, usage and distribution
- Maximising your data management; innovative technical applications
Learn from though global leaders including Sylvain Latour, Director of the world renowned fully interoperable Canadian Government GeoConnections project, will provide you with information on how they developed their Data Infrastructure. Replicate the best to create an Australian National Geospatial Data Infrastructure.
NEW Focus for SEGS! What Will Be Happening in 2009?
SEGS’09 has evolved dramatically over the past few years from the inaugural 2007 event to build up to our 2009 event, the biggest and best yet. In 2009, SEGS ’09 will increase the amount of technical GIS information whilst maintaining the level of policy which needs to be discussed.
This year, SEGS will focus on your 3 absolute core issues, they are….
1. Collecting data for new projects and getting the maximum use and benefit from the data you collect
2. Maximising the value of spatial information with effective data management and data currency strategies: Selecting the right tool for the right project at the right time
3. Developing a whole of government approach to interoperability: Strategies to implement on any scale of operation
The Spatially Enabled Government Evolution
For the first time in 2007, the Australian Government gathered together in Canberra to focus on strategies to get past where we were then, to where we want to be. This was a time of much debate, but little action; SEGS was the start of a spatial drive for the way forward within Government.
Since 2007, IQPC has delivered this platform for discussion in 2008 and now again in 2009
