CM 2008 Top Sessions & Key Lessons

All sessions were highly rated and much appreciated – especially the information shared during the case studies.

"Pfizer's Decision to Outsource Their Neat Sample Library", presented by Kimberly A. Matus, Associate Director, Discovery Chemistry Sourcing, Pfizer Global R&D, was noted as one of the top sessions for original content - as explained by one delegate's comment, "a great opportunity to learn of a novel outsourcing strategy."
Interactive roundtable discussions: Hottest topic roundtables were “Evaluating technology available for low volume liquid handling and evaluating cost vs. benefit” led by Eric Tang, AstraZeneca and “Comparing available technologies for automated use of 1536 compound storage plates with and their impact on CM and Screening operations” led by Claude Dufresne, Merck – with one delegate expressing great enthusiasm “excellent open discussion with representatives from many companies!”
Terry Wood, Pfizer was highly noted for his in-depth knowledge and stature in compound management, and his leadership during the interfaces Focus Day, receiving comments from delegates including "Inspiring!" and "Great knowledge in subject area."

Announcing Compound Manager of the Year 2008 Award Winner

Bob Schmitt, Abbott Laboratories was nominated and secured the 2008 award for his strategic vision and unwavering resolve to successfully implement the Libra compound management system, custom Oracle-based system with over 1,000,000 lines of code, and the production release of the storage system for solvated compounds. The Advisory Board Judges were particularly impressed with his long term commitment to his job and the project for over 7 years and the significant impact the project has had on improving the efficiency of drug discovery operations at Abbott.
