Outsourcing the entire manufacturing process or a part of the production involves risks. It is clear that sponsor companies are bearing greater risks and facing potentially more complex challenges when they use a Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). However, with proper strategies and planning in place to mitigate risks, working with CMOs can surely lower production costs and increase productivity. Therefore, it is especially important for a sponsor company to be able to identify and assess risks, and plan ahead for risk management when working with external entities.
