Engineer (Instituto Superior Técnico), Master in Transport Design (Scuola
Politecnica di Design) and PhD in Design (Faculty of Architecture of the
University of Lisbon). On a professional level, after an experience at Centro
Stile Alfa Romeo in 1996, he founded Almadesign, a design studio dedicated to
Transport, Products and Interiors. In addition to the company's management and
responsibility for over 700 design projects (including buses, trains and
aircrafts), he is a design consultant for several entities.
received the National Design Award (1999 and 2009), the Good Design Award
(2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015 and 2017), the Crystal Cabin Award (2012) and the
Daciano da Costa Award (2015), among others.He participated in the development
of cooperation networks, having co-founded PEMAS, the Portuguese Association
for the Aeronautical Industry, of which he was President for 6 years. He is
co-founder and Vice-President of the Aeronautics, Space and Defence Cluster
(AED.CP) and of the Portuguese Rail Platform Cluster (PFP). He is also Board at
the Technological Park of Óbidos and member of the General Council of the Innovation
academic level, he taught Design at IST, EUAC and is currently responsible for
the Master's Degree in Product Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the
University of Lisbon. Rui Marcelino, has been involved in the promotion of
national and European R&D collaborative projects in the field of
Aeronautical, Road, Rail and Nautical Transport such as LIFE, IBUS, ISEAT,
DESAIR, ETOILET, INTRAIN, NEWFACE, FLEXCRAFT, MODSEAT, PASSARO and PASSME,
which integrate companies with scientific and technological institutions to
develop innovative product solutions, in order to create and boost competencies
and increase the internationalization of the different partners.
