Stephen Philips

Stephen Philips is a Manager  for the Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering and Methods & Tools/Technology group within the Boeing Commercial Airplane Product Development Organization. Stephen leads the engineering team and participates as a consultant and customer advocate on the various airplane preliminary design and technology development teams, and identifies opportunities to continually increase the reliability, decrease the life cycle maintenance cost of Boeing’s current and future products, and increase in the operational availability of the airplane.  Stephen was instrumental in developing the reliability enhancement testing programs for passenger seats and various other payload commodities on the 787 program.  Prior to working at Boeing, he was a Senior Structures and Systems Engineer for American Airlines B767 and B777 fleet, where he gained valuable experience and insight into airline engineering and maintenance operations and experienced the impact of design decisions on the airline operations first hand.  Stephen was also a Senior Structures engineer on the 747-400 program, where he designed and performed structural analysis of primary and secondary aircraft fuselage structure. Stephen holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas and currently resides in the Seattle, Washington area.
