11:00 AM Best Practice Collaboration with the Community in the Planning and Design of the New $470 Million Maitland Hospital
The new $470 Million Maitland Hospital will be 70 per cent larger than the current building. Built on a Greenfield site in Metford in NSW, the new build will provide greater accessibility and contemporary services for Lower Hunter through new models of care. Health Infrastructure NSW is using stakeholder and community consultation to progress the Greenfield site’s plans to build facilities that are fit for the future. Learn how to:
- Create an accessible facility by engaging with government agencies on surrounding infrastructure such as public transport and roads
- Design a hospital that considers the local community’s cultural heritage, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- Balance consumer and intergovernmental agency aspirations against health planning requirements
