One of four regions making up the Greater Toronto Area, the Regional Municipality of Durham is in the process of modernizing its data ecosystem. The first phase is significantly reducing the number of access databases from 40,000 to 19,000 and ultimately to as few as 10. This has required the building of consensus, overcoming cultural issues and setting a strategic plan in motion for this initiative and beyond in order to bring the power of data and analytics to the Region of Durham.
•Develop holistic, comprehensive data ecosystem blueprint
•Create strategy to decommission legacy systems
•Determine the value of data sets
•Scale up the ecosystem to optimize capabilities and rationalize technology foundation
