Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer Global Pharmaceutical R&D Johnson & Johnson

Darren Snellgrove is an experienced CFO, Senior Vice President, and Operations Executive with a broad range of experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Devices. He has 23 years total experience, 19 within multi-national Fortune 100 companies. Darren is currently the Chief Financial and Operating Officer for Global Pharmaceutical Research & Development at Johnson & Johnson, a position he has held since July 2017. He is responsible for leading the Finance organization, managing an $8-10 Billion annual budget, a large complex, global organization, and one of the largest and strongest portfolios in the industry. He serves on the Global R&D Leadership Team and is a member of the Global Pharmaceutical Finance Leadership Team. Darren is passionate about innovation and value creation. He has given numerous talks and presentations on these subjects. He has presented at the Cambridge University Executive MBA program, and delivered the Keynote at the Association of Bioscience Financial Officers Conference in 2016. Darren is also the co-author of a cover story for Strategic Finance Magazine “Why Innovation should be every CFO’s Top Priority” and is currently working on a new article titled “Capital Allocation and Sustainable Value Creation.” Darren joined J&J through the acquisition of Centocor in 1999. He spent three years at Centocor prior to the acquisition and three years after, in positions of increasing responsibility and in support of a variety of functions including Commercial, R&D, and Business Development. In 2002, Darren moved to J&J Corporate, where he spent three years in the Mergers and Acquisitions Finance group providing financial leadership on more than 100 potential acquisitions, major licensing deals, equity investments, options, structures, and divestitures across all sectors. Darren continued on to a series of senior leadership roles at various J&J companies in both Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices. Prior to joining JRD Finance, Darren was CFO for Johnson & Johnson Innovation. Darren holds a B.A. Honors Degree in Economics and Philosophy from Southampton University in England, and an MBA from Villanova University. In 2016 was selected to participate in J&J’s prestigious Accelerated Enterprise Leader Program. Darren has also completed Finance and Business Development Leadership Programs at both Harvard and Wharton.
