Devon Smibert

Devon Smibert is the Director of Cybersecurity at WestJet with responsibility for the security of all information technology assets and information across WestJet and its new ULCC Swoop.

Prior to joining WestJet, Devon worked in various cybersecurity leadership and consulting roles at several companies, including the world’s largest dedicated Cybersecurity manufacturer - Palo Alto Networks and defense giant - General Dynamics Canada. Notable is his 5 years as Senior Manager for Security Operations where he led the build out of an industry leading Security Operations Centre and modernization of Enbridge’s cybersecurity infrastructure and processes.  He is also serving in his 19^th year in the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve where he is the Officer Commanding of A Squadron in the King’s Own Calgary Regiment and contributing to Cyber capability development for the Canadian Armed Forces.

Devon received a bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from Athabasca University, and expects to complete a Master’s in Strategic Studies this year from the Royal Military College of Canada.
