Workshops A

12:00 pm - 2:30 pm Understanding Traveller Preferences and Changing Behaviours: How Do We Best Interpret and Use the Data to Create User Centred Experiences

Customer satisfaction is one of the underpinning drivers determining whether commuters choose to use public transport. Customers are becoming increasingly demanding in terms of quality of service. Providing a service that caters to their everchanging needs and desires is critical in gaining loyalty. With digital tools, collecting their feedback and analyzing data has never been easier. Taking it on board and implementing change, however, can be a challenge. This workshop will outline how you can take advantage of understanding the changing behaviours and preferences of customers to influence the design and experience of rail networks for the future.

What will the workshop cover?
  • Best practice strategies for utilising the mass volumes of data generated and turn into meaningful information for business development and customer experience
  • Making the most of real-time information: Separating meaningful data from the collected mass
  • How open data can help to analyse consumer behaviour and their response to the network to help develop innovative customer solutions that will enhance experience
  • Strategies to collaboratively work with customers in designing and delivering new projects through data, agile and customer-centred design

Workshops B

3:00 pm - 5:30 pm Successfully Integrating Systems into Existing Networks and How to Ensure Continuous Safety and Reliability of the Network

Moving more towards digitalisation, automation and integrating new infrastructure and systems into existing networks has its challenges. Not only do you need to consider the testing of it with little disruption as possible, but also ensure consistency with its performance on the network. Globally, many rail organisations have been ambitious in executing their strategies and applications of new technology. In light of the investments in Australia’s current rail network, this workshop will discuss best practice cases for the installation, operation and maintenance of systems in existing networks.

What will the workshop cover?
  • Embedding digital systems and train control solutions to meet expectations on affordability and asset sustainability
  • How to minimise the disruption for customers with updates to systems and roll out of new services
  • Evaluating the client side and supplier side and how to work effectively together to understand the responsibilities in testing and commissioning
  • Understanding your capabilities and business requirements to upgrade and invest in technologies that align with future strategies
