Dr. Andreas Würsig

Dr. Andreas Würsig is deputy head of the business unit "Power Electronics" and head of the group "Battery Systems for Special Applications" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology (ISIT) in Itzehoe since 2017. For more than 16 years he has been involved in the development of advanced lithium-ion batteries, particularly in the areas of cell production, system integration and characterization. After completing his studies of chemistry at the Technical University of Freiberg in 2001, Dr. Würsig did his doctorate from 2002 to 2005 at the Paul Scherrer Institute of the ETH Zurich, Switzerland, with a thesis on "Differential electrochemical mass spectrometry and X-ray spectrometry for the characterization of electrodes for lithium-ion batteries". Prior to his employment at the Fraunhofer Institute ISIT, he completed a one-year post doctorate at the University of Basel. Dr. Würsig began his career at the Fraunhofer Institute ISIT in 2006 with the development of lithium-polymer batteries and their adaptation to a wide range of applications from medical technology to the automotive industry.
