Vodafone’s journey of flexible working started in late 2016 with the head office moving to a new work space. This move supported the introduction of flexible working and provided the opportunity for change amongst an organisation that has over 2300 employees nationally. 18 months later, Vodafone reviewed their employee’s experience of flexible working arrangements and discovered that not all leaders were embracing this consistently. The importance of communication and role modelling became key factors in improving the engagement of leaders to understand the benefits of flexible working.
