The remote and storm-prone environment of Borrego Springs has 2,800 customers, be they residential or small industrial entities. Due to the San Diego Gas & Electric microgrid project, this community’s energy supply has radically evolved and is reaping the benefits of a dynamically connected grid. With a preliminary focus on improving the reliability of power supply, San Diego Gas & Electric received R&D funding to explore the capabilities of microgrid technology.
In this session, Laurence will share San Diego Gas & Electric’s journey including how they migrated from diesel generation to increased renewable energy in the microgrid and the objectives of achieving a grid which is 100% reliant on renewable resources.
