With the growth in container vessel size set to continue, the ability to evolve ports whilst working to future requirements will be key for gaining dredging and environmental approvals. New policies and the port development act means permits for maintenance and capital dredging will become a challenge to the long term aspirations of ports if left unaddressed.
In this session, Dan will address value-added strategies ports can employ to work more effectively alongside existing and changing policy:
- Beneficial reuse: how can this be achieved and what is the impact?
- Guidelines to develop long term dredging and spoil disposal/reuse strategies
- Combining new techniques and technology to enhance dredging capabilities
