Completed last year, the 5 year project and dredging works delivered results of an average 45 minutes addition to the Tidal Sailing Window and up to 65cm additional draft for draft restricted bulk carrier vessels. Overall, it has excelled Risk Management and safer operations; in this session Frans will share how these results were achieved and what it means for accommodating future growth and risk management:
How the delivery of an emergency passing lane alongside the shipping channel mitigates the risk of disruption to exports from the port in the event of an adverse incident
Improve trade capacity through targeted dredging of the channel to fully realise the existing channel depth, allowing port users to further optimise tonnages on their vessels.
Extend the tidal sailing window to create larger separations between vessel departures or to allow an additional vessel to depart from the port in a convoy for each tidal window
