Most libraries currently face a range of significant challenges, but not all libraries face the same challenges, while different libraries may deal with similar challenges differently. In this discussion David identifies some key challenges facing his own library and briefly outlines how that particular library plans to respond to them, before opening up the discussion to the group to consider whether the participants’ libraries face similar, or different, challenges and how they are dealing with them.

The intention is to explore both the differences and similarities between the challenges facing libraries from different sectors (public, academic, school, government, corporate, legal) and to provide opportunities to learn from one another some successful strategies for responding to some of those challenges.
