The need to apply flexible space design has arisen due to the changing role and use of modern libraries. As such, expectations of library resources and physical facilities have changed and Architects are now tasked with the challenge of designing libraries that offer the best of traditional library spaces but also seamlessly incorporate designs that drive innovation and creativity. Such designs require community involvement to understand current short-comings and their perspectives on how they should be addressed.
