Gordon Jackson is a chartered engineer with over 30 years’
experience. Having trained as a Civil Engineer and Naval Architect, he is now
Arup’s design director for offshore structures.
Gordon has extensive experience in the feasibility, conceptual development and delivery stages of offshore projects. The emphasis throughout has been on the application of value engineering to problems and on the development of innovative construction and installation methods with the aim of reducing capital cost, or schedule.
Originally working in the oil & gas sector, Gordon has been involved in the delivery of eight major concrete or steel platforms, including the award-winning Wandoo and Hang Tuah projects. Over the last six years, Gordon’s emphasis has switched to the renewable sector where he has developed piled and self-installing AC substation solutions as well as industry-leading HVDC converter station designs for UK and German offshore wind developers and transmission operators. Gordon has also carried out technical due diligence on all the UK Round 1 and 2 substation platforms transferred to OFTOs over the last five years.
