12:00 PM Integrating IT and OT Environments In Order To Improve Adaptability to The IoT Migration

The rising interest in the IoT means that new opportunities will emerge and associated risks will need to be mitigated. Gartner predicts that by 2020, 50% of OT service providers will create key partnerships with IT-centric providers for IoT offerings. This workshop will focus on how to integrate IT and OT environments together in order to combat the emergence of IoT SCADA systems into an OT landscape.

  • Developing an understanding on how the emergence of IoT will require eventual migration between IT and OT environments, and the effects this might have on your company‚Äôs performance.
  • Establishing a strategic road map that will assist with the integration between IT and OT environments, particularly in regards to business culture transformation.
  • Educating IT and OT environments on the rise of IoT, Cloud-Based SCADA technologies to ensure the adoption of 4th Gen SCADA systems can integrate in a cooperative IT/OT environment.

10:20 AM Maximising Productivity Growth Through Effective Extraction and Utilization of SCADA Data Across All SCADA Channels in the Mines.

As the fourth largest Iron Ore producer in the world, Fortescue Metal Group produces and ships around 170 million tonnes of Iron Ore per annum. With fully integrated infrastructure and supply chain spanning two mine hubs across 87,000km2, FMG is operates a large SCADA network, which ensures efficient operational productivity within the site. Chris Fischer will present on how FMG has productively extracted and utilized SCADA Data to increase productivity and maximize interoperability across the organisation.

  • Integrating SCADA with enterprise analytics to deliver greater levels of insights into operations and productivity.
  • Defining sensible extraction intervals to balance granularity with computing costs.
  • Maintaining interoperability between SCADA, IT, and OT systems through effective CIM data modelling and MDM.
  • Utilising SCADA Data to identify performance issues and delivering quick maintenance response to solve issues and continue operations.
