Victorian Rail Project Update: Optimising Train Control & Management Systems to Enhance Network Capability

Victorian Rail Project Update: Optimising Train Control & Management Systems to Enhance Network Capability

With the growth in investment and new rail technologies rapidly evolving, operators must now focus their efforts on harnessing the latest innovations in order to relieve congestion, improve passenger services, and transform rail services to become more frequent and flexible to align with modern customer needs. With this in mind, we explore four major projects taking place in Victoria and how they’re innovating their signalling and train control systems to enhance network capability and passenger satisfaction, ahead of Train Control Management Systems Victoria 2019.

Exploring the Train Control Management Processes Helping Deliver Safer, More Reliable Transport Services for Customers | Insights from Metro Trains and PT Victoria

In a modern era, where customers expect and demand more from their public transport operators, TCMS and processes have moved beyond their traditional and typical signalling and monitoring support function.

With the increased investment from the Australian Government on transport infrastructure, signalling and train control systems are being pushed to the forefront in an effort to more effectively meet growing need and passenger demand.

More and more TCMS, and the increased monitoring capability they facilitate, are being harnessed to increase train throughput, increase passenger and rail operator safety and switch rolling stock monitoring and conditioning from the reactive to the proactive. All of this combines to help meet the elusive ‘passenger experience’ goal.

Ahead of the TCMS Victoria Summit 2019 we chat to Peter Munro, General Manager for Network Operations at Metro Trains Melbourne (Metro Trains) and Ben Shaw, to MR4 Project Asset Lead with PT Victoria. In this article Ben and Peter share details of how they’re harnessing TCMS and strategic asset management capabilities to open lines of communication between drivers, control centres and passengers to optimise the customer experience.

Attendee List | TCMS 2020
