To aid the rail operator preparedness, the Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation has facilitated the collective development of systems engineering models that illustrate the impact across an organisation when technologies are introduced into rail operations. With competencies and training requirements now changing as we move closer to digital systems, these scenario planning tools have been adapted from military applications. This work not only provides the basis for staff engagement and efficiency gains but the specific component relating to track workers directly addresses their safety. Andrew will discuss preparing for emerging technologies in rail – from horizon scanning to understanding the impacts on operations.
