One Step at a Time with Video

In the past month online healthcare support and services have been rapidly scaled up around Australia.

Telehealth has been fast tracked at impressive rates. Although it is exciting to see our health system’s adaptive and innovative response to COVID-19 we must remember that not all patients, carers, GPs, and other medical and health specialists will move seamlessly across to these online services.

Difficulties in navigating these new platforms can arise and with these difficulties comes frustration, anger and anxiety. So how can you help make the online experience more user friendly?

Create a ‘how to’ video with step by step instructions that demonstrate key functions and features in a clear and simple way. Make it accessible by using captions, voiceover, subtitles and having it translated for those with low levels of English literacy.

Have separate chapters to specific functions such as billing or sending prescriptions. Step by step instruction videos with friendly voiceovers, calm colour palettes and simple, graphics can really help people save time and alleviate stress.
