Dr Darran Foo is a specialist general practitioner and APAC Chief Medical Information Officer at Heidi. In this role, he provides clinical leadership across strategy, governance, regulatory alignment and regional implementation of AI systems designed to function as a true care partner for clinicians. He works at the intersection of medicine, technology and system design, ensuring AI is deployed safely, responsibly and at scale within complex healthcare environments.
Dr Foo leads clinician engagement and governance frameworks across the Asia-Pacific region, aligning frontline practitioners, technologists and health system leaders to translate innovation into accountable models of care delivery. His work centres on clinician-led AI, regulatory maturity and the structured adoption of emerging technologies in primary care.
He maintains active clinical practice in Sydney, grounding his leadership in contemporary frontline experience. He serves as Deputy Chair of the RACGP Digital Health and Innovation Specific Interest Group and is completing a PhD at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. His doctoral research examines virtual care, direct-to-consumer telehealth and AI-enabled primary care models, with a focus on scalable, high-quality and equitable health system reform
