Esther Evening is part of Mercury’s sustainability and strategy team, where she helps Mercury think about the future, exploring different scenarios, identifying the potential risks and opportunities climate change presents, and ensuring sustainability is part of each conversation about the company’s direction. Over her years in the energy sector, she’s worked across customer, operational, and strategy roles, giving her a unique, people-first perspective on how the industry can evolve for a more sustainable future.
A passionate advocate for youth and diversity in energy, Esther co-chaired the Young Energy Professionals Network and was recently selected for the World Energy Council’s Future Energy Leaders programme, representing New Zealand internationally. She’s driven by a belief that the energy transition isn’t just about technology, it’s about people, ideas, and the courage to think differently.
