As a leading nation in digital integration, Singapore is a prime example to look at for ideas of Next Generation Libraries. Starting in 1998 with the introduction of Radio Frequency Identification, Singapore libraries have continuously undertaken digital projects with the launch of the library app in 2016 and the set goals of a physical and integrated experience, preserving and enhancing discovery to national collection and automation and self-service.
- Implementating RFID and Self-service kiosks to empower the library users
- Improving the operational efficiency – AutoSorters, Reservation Lockers, Mobile BookDrop and Shelf-Scanning Robots
- Determining the Digital Transformation through the NLB mobile app, enabling the access to eBooks, eMagazines, eNewspapers and Micro-learning
