Goof Lukken is a senior lecturer Attractions & Theme Parks Management, Tourism and Leisure at Breda University of applied sciences (BUas.nl) in the Netherlands. He teaches in the field of marketing, communication and management. Goof has worked, more than 15 years, as a marketing & communications manager for Libéma, one of the biggest leisure holdings in the Netherlands that owns several theme parks, zoo’s, resorts and event locations. He also launched the online brand for Dutch campsites called Ardoer.com. Within the Breda University, he is involved the Europe’s first bachelor track in Attractions and Theme Parks management.
This track works in education closely together with several partners in the industry such as Disney World, the Efteling, several zoo’s and Europapark. Breda University is one of the top institutes on the topic of tourism and travel in the world. It is a medium-sized, government-funded higher education institute. More than 7,000 Dutch and international students from some 100 countries are studying at the institute, in associate, bachelor and master degrees.
Goof is a specialist in the field of the Dutch and international tourism and leisure industry. He is considered as a trendwachter for developments in (inter)national travel, tourism and leisure. On a yearly basis he publicizes the Leisure Trends, about the newest developments in the hospitality industry. He is also an author for the yearly Dutch Tourism Trend Rapport. Goof has also his own consultancy firm. He advises hospitality and travel entrepreneurs, municipalities and non-profit organizations on developments in the tourism industry. He was a speaker at several Dutch congresses, the European Zoo conference and the Euro Attractions Show.
