Jeffrey Johnson

Jeff leads the Ethics, Compliance, & Security department in Cargill which includes the Ethics & Compliance Office, Global Security, Derivatives & Commodities Compliance, and Global Privacy & Responsible AI. He has provided counsel to several Cargill business groups and acted as group lead lawyer for Cargill Salt. Jeff has also managed significant external and internal investigations. Jeff served as the Managing Lawyer for Greater China in Shanghai for 5 years. In this role, Jeff led Cargill’s legal teams in China and Japan, managed compliance investigations in the Asia-Pacific region, and served as legal counsel on M&A transactions in the region. Upon his return to Minneapolis, Jeff designed and managed Cargill’s Anti-Bribery program and led Cargill’s Ethics Open Line and investigations program. Jeff has led Cargill’s Ethics & Compliance department since 2023 and he assumed oversight of the Global Security department in May 2025. Jeff has taught International Anti-Bribery courses at the University of St. Thomas Law School as an adjunct professor. Education Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School.
