Vice President, Asia Pacific Excelerate Energy

Derek Wong is Vice President, Asia Pacific for Excelerate Energy (NYSE: EE), based in Singapore. He leads the company's commercial strategy, business development activities, and market growth initiatives across Asia Pacific, working with governments, national energy companies, utilities, infrastructure developers, and industry partners to advance LNG import infrastructure and energy security solutions throughout the region.

Since joining Excelerate Energy in 2019, Derek has held leadership positions spanning commercial development, government relations, sustainability, corporate affairs, and stakeholder engagement. He has supported LNG infrastructure projects and strategic partnerships across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean, helping countries diversify fuel supplies, strengthen energy security, and accelerate access to reliable energy.

Prior to joining Excelerate, Derek served in the U.S. Department of State, where he advised on international economic and energy issues and completed diplomatic assignments in Hong Kong, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. He also served as a policy advisor in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and received both the State Department's Meritorious Honor Award and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Gold Medal for Exceptional Service.

Derek holds a Master of Public Administration with Distinction from the London School of Economics and graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania's Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, earning degrees from both the Wharton School and the College of Arts and Sciences.
