Chief corrosion engineer European Energy

Birit Buhr is a Chief Corrosion Engineer with more than three decades of international experience in corrosion protection, cathodic protection, and durability strategies for steel and reinforced concrete structures. She is AMPP CP4 certified and has specialized extensively in corrosion protection for offshore wind, marine infrastructure, and renewable energy assets. Before joining European Energy as Chief Corrosion Engineer, she served in leading specialist roles at Ørsted and DONG Energy, leading corrosion protection strategies for offshore wind foundations. Earlier, she headed COWI’s Material Laboratory and contributed to major bridge, tunnel, and marine structure projects globally. Birit is the inventor on two corrosion monitoring patents, an active contributor to ISO and CEN standards, a frequent lecturer, and a widely published author in corrosion and durability engineering.
