David Thull

Head of R&D and Product Development fisco GmbH

Born and raised in Augsburg, I joined the German Armed Forces as an officer cadet after graduating from high school. Alongside this training, I studied mechanical engineering with a focus on aerospace in my bachelor's degree and fiber composites and lightweight construction in my master's degree at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2015, I began my professional career as a founding member of fisco, a subsidiary of the fischer group, with the mission of bringing fiber composites to the construction sector. Today, I am responsible for the entire technical area at fisco as Head of Development and Product Management. In addition to building up the company, developing products and entering new markets – like shipbuilding and railway infrastructure - I completed an MBA in Business Start-up and Management at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

9:15 FI:IL – A sensor integrated composite lamella for efficient structural health monitoring

- Research project within the framework of the TTP-LB (Technology Transfer Program for Lightweight Construction)

- Development of a cost-effective composite lamella produced via pultrusion with integrated strain gauge sensors

- Application focus in the fields of infrastructure (e.g., bridges) and wind energy (rotor root)

- Functional demonstrators and real component testing
