I am an offshore loads engineer specialized in the topic of wave-structure interaction of monopile-based offshore wind turbines. My work centers on wave-induced resonance, a new source of risk that rapidly intensifies with increasing turbine size and wave exposure. I am tackling the topic by applying my passion for innovating through the use of emerging computational tech. It is my mission to prevent the industry from sleepwalking into a situation where we ignorantly deploy WTG systems that are no longer inherently robust. In a time where the world is cracking under the pressure of various stressors, reliable renewable energy is of the utmost importance to retain societal stability as much as possible.
• New ULS design load cases to account for wave-induced resonance and how they
compare to traditional load cases
• Determining appropriate 50-year joint environmental conditions and wave spectral
shapes for resonant sea states
• Considerations for FLS design, given increasing damage contribution from more extreme
(storm) conditions
