Senior Researcher and Consultant Offshore Energy Delatres

Niek Bruinsma is a senior offshore researcher / consultant at Deltares, where he has enthusiastically been working on advancing offshore wind since 2016. He is leading the "Hydrodynamic Loads on Offshore Structures" group, dedicated to make offshore infrastructure more resilient, cost-effective, and future proof. Niek brings industry and research partners together in Joint Industry Projects to solve challenges in the field of extreme wave loads, hydrodynamic loads on dynamic structures like cables, and floating offshore wind/solar structures. At the forefront of developing novel methods and techniques to reduce risks and uncertainties for clients and further improve the design methodology of offshore structures. Utilizing a wide range of tools and skills—numerical, physical, and analytical modelling, probabilistic methods, and uncertainty quantification—to find fit-for-purpose solutions for the present and future challenges of the industry.
