Design Engineer Trelleborg
Olivier Schuringa

I am Olivier Schuringa, a 30 year old Design Engineer specializing in Offshore Energy foundations and Water Infrastructure. Over the past four years, I have contributed to numerous large scale international projects, including Moray West, He Dreiht, Empire 1, Inch Cape, Katagami, among others. I hold a Master’s degree in Nuclear Reactor Physics from Delft University of Technology. My thesis focused on developing innovative measurement techniques for Molten Salt Nuclear Reactors, a promising Generation IV reactor concept. This work reflects my strong interest in advanced engineering solutions and emerging energy technologies. Based in Rotterdam—my hometown—I enjoy reading, traveling, skiing, and spending time with friends. And unlike many of my countrymen, I have yet to develop an appreciation for cycling in the rain, or cycling in general.

10:40 From Requirements to Reality: Airtightness Specification and Sealing Options

* The airtightness requirement. What drives this specification and how does it evolve in time?
* Translation of airtightness requirements into design drivers and specifications, highlighting how functional requirements such as pressure retention, safety, and tolerance management are converted into practical sealing design criteria for offshore wind foundations.
* Recent industry solutions to achieve airtightness, showcasing modern sealing concepts and design approaches that respond to evolving installation methods, fabrication constraints, and cost and risk reduction targets.
* Real life engineering case studies, demonstrating how airtightness specifications and sealing solutions are applied and tested in practice.
