Not only are Indigenous Australia’s being incarcerated at higher rates than non- Indigenous Australians, but women are being incarcerated at higher rates than men and the same can be said for Indigenous women, with this group of individuals being 21 times more likely to be incarcerated. The complexities of Australia’s courts and justice system can be daunting for anyone; however, for a marginalized community of people, it can seem almost impossible to understand. In this presentation, Deborah Evans will discuss her work with indigenous Australian women detainees and the programs she has been involved in to help them.

Looking back over what has been discussed throughout the last two days, our advisory board members will offer their insights into the direction Australia’s Justice and Corrections Industry is heading. Our Advisory members will discuss how they are all going to take new knowledge and insights they’ve acquired from collaborating with each other, back to their own facilities and organisations, in hopes to better the industry.
