Brett has over 25 years of investigative and management experience focusing on intellectual property, licensing, contractual compliance, and fraud. Brett is a former Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) where he spent 12 years working complex criminal enterprises through a series of undercover operations.
After leaving the government, Brett went to work for Cisco and headed the Brand Protection team for the Americas and developed the anti-counterfeit enforcement program which resulted in the largest criminal IP criminal prosecution to date, “Cisco Raider.” Brett then developed and led a new compliance team in Asia Pacific focused on addressing service and warranty fraud for Cisco. After Cisco, Brett oversaw global IP investigations for Dolby Laboratories identifying parties infringing on Dolby’s patented technologies.
Brett is currently is the Sr. Director of Brand Protection for Fitbit in San Francisco where he built a new team and program to address IP enforcement, supply chain losses and fraud matters globally.
Brett has lectured before numerous industry associations and received various awards and recognition from law enforcement and industry groups. Brett is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a former Captain in the US Army.
