He specializes in standard essential patents, patent pools, IP strategy, invention creation, patent cultivation, portfolio development, global management, and licensing. Dan previously served as Director of Patents at CableLabs and as Special Assistant Attorney General for Colorado. He has also founded several ventures, including The Spot Climbing Gym, Desont Audio (a high-end speaker and amplifier company), and his private patent practice, The Patent Smith.
