Joel Smylie is a Principal at THRIVE Consulting, specializing in launch excellence and strategic decision-making under uncertainty. Over the past decade, he has supported more than a dozen product launches across major therapeutic areas, helping cross-functional teams align around strategy and strengthen launch readiness. Joel combines rigorous analytics with scenario planning and design thinking to help organizations anticipate evolving market conditions and identify clear “no-regret” priorities. He has led strategy and co-creation workshops across 20+ disease areas and helped embed launch and commercial excellence systems and playbooks across regions. Joel holds Master’s degrees from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and Queen’s University, and a B.Sc. from Cornell University. He is based in Toronto.
