Zak Ringelstein

Zak Ringelstein is the founder of Zigazoo, a kidSAFE COPPA-certified social platform used by millions of kids and teens and more than 1,000 Gen Alpha creators. He founded Zigazoo in 2020 on a simple premise: a social platform for young people has to be built for them from the ground up, with safety as the foundation rather than a feature added later.

Zak began his career as a teacher, did his doctoral studies at Columbia University's Teachers College, and developed a minimum teacher salary policy that inspired federal legislation. He previously founded and sold UClass to Renaissance Learning, and he was the 2018 Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine. He is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree.

Conference Day One - Tuesday 23rd March 2027

11:10 AM Panel Discussion: Adapting to Age-Based Restrictions: Implementing Youth Safety Rules in Practice

As social media bans and age-based restrictions accelerate globally, platform leaders are at the forefront of implementing them in real world environments. This session explores how platforms are implementing new requirements while balancing safety, compliance and user experience. Join this session to learn:

  • Dissecting how platforms are progressing with social media ban transitions and current challenges.
  • Discuss how platforms can design family engagement strategies that build trust and adoption.
  • Navigating the fine line of regulatory transitions whilst also minimising disruption and unintended risk.

2:40 PM Panel Discussion: From Roadblock to Strategic Partner: Building a Safety-by-Design Culture Across the Organisation

Many organisations have embraced safety-by-design in principle, yet Trust & Safety teams still struggle to influence decision-making early enough in the product lifecycle. Product teams are often measured on speed, growth and innovation, whilst safety teams are tasked with reducing risk, creating friction and challenging assumptions. The organisations making the most progress have moved beyond frameworks and checklists, embedding safety into incentives, culture and day-to-day decision-making across the business. Join this session to learn:
• Embedding safety ownership across product, engineering, design and leadership teams
• Aligning incentives, culture and decision-making to support long-term safety outcomes
• Securing executive buy-in and organisational support for safety-by-design initiatives
• Lessons learned from driving behavioural and cultural change at scale
