• Framing capabilities, limitations and responsibilities clearly, particularly for minors.
• Addressing scrutiny around self-harm, companion dynamics and chatbot disclosures.

Conference Day Two - 24th March 2027

10:30 AM Panel Discussion – Shoehorning AI into Content Regulation: Online Safety, Consumer Protection and Beyond

AI-specific regulation was designed to govern models and systems, yet growing regulatory concern centres on the content, interactions and harms of users experience. As regulators look to online safety, consumer protection, privacy and platform rules to fill that gap, platforms are increasingly being assessed through frameworks never intended for AI services. This panel explores the resulting compliance challenges, accountability questions and evolving expectations for AI-enabled platforms.

• Understanding how existing regulation is being applied to AI.
• Navigating compliance where AI defies established regulatory categories.
• Assessing gaps in content and consumer protection frameworks.
