#PENGDEXSummit - The Journey Continues

Platform Engineering joined the series in 2025, launched alongside the Developer Experience Summit and Observability & SRE Summit.

It was a natural next step. In our conversations with engineering leaders, we'd seen a sharp rise in platform-specific roles - teams responsible for building and maintaining the internal tools, workflows and infrastructure that help developers move faster, more safely, and with less friction. At the same time, Developer Experience was climbing the agenda too, as organisations looked more seriously at how engineering environments, processes and tooling shape productivity, satisfaction, and delivery at scale. 

These weren't abstract conversations. They were coming  directly from large enterprises, where complexity, legacy systems, and fragmented teams make great engineering far harder to achieve without the right foundations in place.

As investment in internal platforms and developer enablement has grown, so too has the appetite for a space to share how it's actually being done - what works, what doesn't, and how to balance autonomy, consistency, speed, and governance across large organisations.

Now, in year two, the event is evolving again. Platform Engineering and Developer Experience are coming together as one summit, reflecting how closely these disciplines overlap in practice. The conversation is no longer just about building platforms or improving workflows in isolation - it's about creating the conditions for engineers to do their best work. And as AI reshapes software delivery, that challenge is only becoming more important. From internal developer platforms to AI-enabled tooling, teams are rethinking how to reduce friction, improve productivity, and support developers at scale.

This summit is built for the people doing that work - focused on the real-world challenge of designing the systems, standards and experiences that enable better software delivery inside complex enterprise organisations.
